Betty Powell | Sixth Grade

Betty Powell graduated magma cum laude from the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. with a degree in Education. She taught for 3 years in the Topeka Public Schools in special education.  She and her husband Tony have 4 children:  Katie, John, Grace and Tony. All four have attended CCA from kindergarten through 8th grade. Her youngest son, Tony, is a freshman at Kansas State University.  John and Grace are students at Wichita State University.  Katie is married and is also a teacher.  Betty is in her fourteenth year of teaching at CCA.
Personal philosophy of education:  “After teaching in the public schools and watching the inner workings of government while my husband served in the Kansas Legislature, I became deeply committed to Christian education.  It is a joy to partner with Christian families in the education of their children. It is a high calling to minister to our students and equip them to impact our world for Christ.  I am inspired as a teacher by Ephesians 4:1b-2 ‘…I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.’ ”
