OVERVIEW
Discover Kindergarten … a world of beginnings!
Bible
The heart matters. Our Positive Action Bible curriculum is not just a subject; it is the building of a foundation for a life-changing relationship with the Lord Jesus. We believe that the word of God can teach children how to live from their earliest childhood experiences. Character development is enhanced through daily Bible stories, memory verses, studies of the Fruits of the Spirit and devotionals with applications to every day life. Once a week we have chapel with other classes.
Phonics and Spelling
Do you hear what I hear? Saxon Phonics and Spelling is a success-oriented program that enables our children to develop a solid foundation in phonics, and thus become successful readers and spellers. By using phonemic awareness and phonics instruction with multi-sensory activities, reading becomes exciting!
Language
Books are our friends! Language discovery is done through books, poetry and vocabulary enrichment.
Writing
Watch out! Kindergarten writing begins to bloom as they are given opportunity to write daily through manipulating letters, interactive writings and writer’s workshop.
Mathematics
What’s up? Growing up with numbers all around us, kindergartners become aware of how math affects all parts of life. Math concepts and problem-solving strategies are enhanced through the use of our Harcourt Brace math series.
Science
What could it be? Science activities will combine the use of simple hands-on experiments, games and other projects to foster our children’s awe and wonder at the creation God has made for us.
Specials
Get ready, set, let’s go! We are blessed to have art, computer, library, physical education, and music classes scheduled throughout the week. These classes are taught by specialists in their field and in settings specifically designed for those activities.
Share Days
Let the fun begin! Our kindergarten classes combine to do a variety of exciting hands on learning, developed around a specific theme. The 100th day of school, Kansas Day, and an Apple/Pumpkin day are shared events where families are invited to help share the experience. Field trips, such as Kansas Learning Center and Cowtown, give an added dimension to our curriculum, and help us learn about our community.
