Lion Be-Attitudes: Be Resilient

As of June 4th, the Miami Heat tied Denver Nuggets 1-1 in the NBA Finals. The Miami Heat have an unheard-of statistic for a team competing for a championship – around 50% of the Heat’s points this postseason have come from undrafted free agents. Meaning half of their production comes from players nobody thought would be worth investing in for their team’s draft. How does this happen in a professional sports league? Culture. A culture developed by many working towards the same goal of hard work and grit. A culture like this does not happen because one player (or child) has potential; culture is built when people are willing to trust and work hard together as a team. Paul goes a step further as he wrote, “consider it pure joy to face trials of many kinds” James 1:2-4

At CCA this quality is a part of our Lion Be-Attitudes: Be Resilient, “I will give my best, have self-control and grit in difficult situations and will face disappointments and failure with God’s hope. To develop a culture where children learn to have grit, self-control, and face failure in a Godly way, we need those with influence (parents, teachers, administration) modeling this behavior. It will take all of us allowing our kids to learn in hands-on ways (eating pancakes made with a tablespoon of salt instead of a teaspoon), picking up a book along with them to model the importance of reading, or creating a sabbath for your family during your week.

I am praying that the Lord will provide you with ample opportunities to teach resilience as you look for ways to make the summer of 2023 memorable and full of potential!
