CCA Daily Update 03/23/20

Note: We will be in touch as soon as possible should plans change due to pending decisions by local government.

Hello CCA Families:

In preparation for continued learning to begin on March 30, we are preparing materials for parents to pick up at CCA on Thursday and Friday, March 26 and 27. Though this is a long email, please read it carefully so you will be well informed on the process we have put in place.

To limit contact and comply with civil authority, no children may enter the building.  We will limit the number of people in the building to twenty per hour.  You may sign up by clicking on the appropriate link(s) below:

Please notify Mr. Swank (K-6) or Mr. Waddell (7-10) if you do not have an adult who can pick up supplies between 7:00 am and 3:00 pm on those days. If you are unable to leave your vehicle or would prefer “contactless” curbside textbook delivery, please contact jbeck@ccalions.org by noon on Wednesday, March 25, so we can pack and label your student’s materials and have them ready to bring out to you. (We will not be able to accommodate curbside delivery if you don’t let us know by the deadline.)

Please note only Door 10 (“main entrance”) will be open Thursday and Friday for K-6th material pick up (No entry will be permitted through Door 7/JNA-CCAP entrance on the south side).  Parents coming to pick up materials for Middle School and High School will enter through theHigh School main entrance.

Prior to entering the building, each person will be screened (temperature taken, etc.) and will be required to proceed directly to the restroom to wash hands with soap and water.  Again, no children may enter the building.  After washing hands, parents may proceed to their student’s classroom/locker area to pick up textbooks and personal items from desks.  In an effort to minimize each person’s time in the building, we are not taking down student artwork or classroom displays at this time. We will communicate a future date for those items to be picked up.  Our top priority is to get into your hands the materials needed for your student’s continued learning through the end of the school year.

(1st-4th PE shoes will be placed with your student’s textbooks in the classroom.)

If a parent needs access to both buildings, you will follow the above procedure for each building (screening, hand-washing, etc.). We apologize in advance for this inconvenience, but very much appreciate your cooperation in these unusual circumstances.

We have ordered paper grocery sacks to package your student’s textbooks in.  In the event the sacks are not delivered before Thursday, please come prepared with your student’s backpack, or other bag to gather textbooks and personal items. It may also be helpful to bring a freezer bag or something similar to put loose school supplies in.   At pick-up, the books and supplies your child will need for instruction will be compiled and labeled with your child’s name.  These will be in the child’s classroom or a centralized area if they do not have a homeroom.  Faculty and staff will not empty lockers; however, lockers will be unlocked so you can gather your child’s belongings (including the locker rooms).  Please bring something to carry home locker items.  Locker items other than textbooks will not be packed by staff for curbside delivery.

Medication Pick-Up – Mrs. Fields will be outside her office for parents to pick up medications. She will contact you if there is medication for you to pick upso you will know to stop by her office..

Technology Check-Out – Mr. Tucker will be in the Innovation Center to check out devices to families with a significant need.  Before you arrive, please thoroughly read the linked information regarding technology check-out because you will be required to sign an agreement prior to receiving a device.   https://forms.gle/LDXnHKCGx9KDSQoD6

If you wish to return library books at this time, we will have a tub available at Door 10 (main entrance). Books may be placed in the tub, and we will seal the tub and process the returned books at a later date.

Security Badges: All security badges issued to students will be deactivated and must be returned, so please bring those with you. There will be a collection tub at the High School entrance for badges.
